Government Announces 1,870 Short-term Jobs

The government of Kenya has announced 1,870 short-term administrative positions through the Ministry of the Interior. The state is aiming to hire 1,200 Clerical Officers II, 205 office administrative assistants III, 109 drivers III, and 356 support workers, according to Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

The PS stated that qualified people are welcome to apply for the advertised positions  in the Department of National Registration Bureau in all 47 counties.

Application

Applications are to be submitted by August 2, 2021. Interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply by filling out one of the PSC2 application forms (Revised 2016).

The application form can be downloaded from the PSC website, www.publicservice.go.ke, and then submitted to the appropriate County Commissioner’s office.

Positions

Clerical Officers are classified as F/14, Office Administrative Assistant III (G/13), Driver II (D/16) , and Support Staff (C/17) .

Clerical Officers aspirants must have a C- average in their KCSEs and computer application skills from a recognized university.

Data entry and verification, as well as other tasks assigned by supervisors, are included in this category.

Successful applicants for Office Administrative Assistant position will receive a basic salary of Sh22,270, as well as commuter allowances of Sh3,000, a housing allowance of Sh2,000, and medical benefits.

Those selected for the 109 driver positions would receive a basic pay of Sh14,610 plus a Sh3,000 commuting allowance, a home allowance, and medical perks.

Qualifications

The applicants must have a D average in KCSE, a valid driver’s license with no current endorsements for the class of vehicles, and have completed a one-week First Aid Certificate Course at St John’s Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognized institution.

Drivers must also have passed the KIHBT Driver Grade III suitability test, the corresponding department’s Practical Test for Drivers, a valid Police Clearance Certificate, and at least two years of driving experience.

Successful support staff would receive a basic salary of Sh13,280, a commuter allowance of Sh3,000, and housing allowances based on their location.

They will be conducting general messenger duties as well as office cleaning and must have a KCPE certificate as a minimum requirement.
