Jumia, Kenya’s biggest e-commerce platform, will commemorate its tenth anniversary by honoring consumers, sellers, and communities that have helped to transform Kenya’s e-commerce landscape.
Betty Mwangi, CEO of Jumia Kenya, said the Jumia Anniversary is a celebration of how far the company has come as Kenya’s e-commerce leader a decade later.
“I would like to especially thank all Kenyans, who have put their trust in Jumia and brought us to this moment today. We remain committed to the Jumia customer who has changed the e-commerce narrative in Kenya, a decade later. We will continue to source for the best products at the best prices to offer our customers the best in the market,” Mwangi.
Customers on Jumia will benefit from up to 90% discounts as the platform celebrates its tenth anniversary. Brands such as Xiaomi, Jameson, Nivea, Vision Plus, Tecno, Johnnie Walker, and Oraimo will also be discounted on the marketplace.
Businesses all around the country are turning to e-commerce to boost sales and compensate for the disruption caused by traditional offline channels. E-commerce is also providing new prospects for SMEs to flourish and new job opportunities for a new generation of tech-savvy Kenyans.
Mwangi added that, from the early days, placing an order online was a myth to today where customers have embraced us as their ‘Everyday Jumia’ showing the increasingly important role that the e-commerce industry is playing in the daily lives of Kenyans.
“Having recently launched our Sustainability Report, we are committed to creating a sustainable impact in Kenya and offering unique opportunities in a vibrant environment, creating new jobs, and empowering a new generation through some of our corporate social investment programs. This will also largely play a key role in closing inequality gaps for a lot of people, especially women,” Mwangi.
